Thiazovivin is a selective inhibitor of Rho-associated coiled-coil containing protein kinase (ROCK), a serine/threonine kinase that plays a role in cell polarity, contraction, and actin cytoskeleton reorganization. Thiazovivin has been shown to promote survival of human ES cells during dissociation by stabilizing E-cadherin and to improve cell attachment. It has also been shown to greatly enhance the efficiency of fibroblast reprogramming to generate iPS cells when used in combination with SB431542 and PD0325901.
